==Invasion== {| class="wikitable" |- !Cards !Scene |- |{{card|Opt||INV}},
{{card|Fact or Fiction||INV}},
{{card|Worldly Counsel||INV}}||Upon their return from [[Mercadia]], the crew of the ''[[Skyship Weatherlight|Weatherlight]]'' makes for [[Gerrard Capashen|Gerrard]]'s homeland of [[Benalia]], but attempts to planeshift there find them hundreds of miles off-course. [[Hanna]] and the crew scour navigational charts and instruments, eventually discovering the cause- spatial distortions caused by massive {{card|Planar Portal||INV|title=portal ships}} that are flooding the skies of [[Dominaria (plane)|Dominaria]] with [[Phyrexia|Phyrexian]] forces. The [[Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria|Phyrexian Invasion]] has begun. |- |{{card|Zap||INV}},
{{card|Hanna, Ship's Navigator||INV}},
{{card|Restrain||INV}}||The ''Weatherlight'' engages, shooting down as many Phyrexian ships as they can. They fly through one of the portals to [[Rath]], and are shocked to observe untold numbers of Phyrexian troops waiting below, more than could ever be brought through the portals. While out on the deck repairing a disabled cannon, Hanna is struck by shrapnel from a Phyrexian plague bomb bursting overhead but does not seem to be seriously injured. They return to Dominaria via another portal ship, destroying it in the process, and set a course for [[Benalia City]]. |- | {{card|Rewards of Diversity||INV}},
{{card|Well-Laid Plans||INV}},
{{card|Death or Glory||INV}},
{{card|Tower Drake||INV}}||Elsewhere in Benalia, [[Urza]] and [[Barrin]] repel the invaders alongside allies from across Dominaria, which Urza collectively dubs the [[The Coalition|Coalition]]. As his contribution to this coalition, Urza deploys the armies of [[Metathran]] bred during his [[Bloodline Project]]. |- |{{card|Blind Seer||INV}},
{{card|Seer's Vision||INV}},
{{card|Harsh Judgment||INV}},
{{card|Shackles||INV}}||Upon reaching Benalia City, the crew encounters a seemingly mad blind man preaching doom at their landing site. Gerrard attempts to add legitimacy to the man's claims, warning the guard about the coming invasion, but they pay him no heed and he is immediately arrested for desertion. He is taken to the army's barracks to be detained along with the blind seer and the rest of the crew. |- | {{card|Yawgmoth's Agenda||INV}},
{{card|Tsabo Tavoc||INV}},
{{card|Tsabo's Decree||INV}}||A host of Phyrexians soon descend on Benalia City, quickly overwhelming the guard and storming the barracks. The crew briefly manages to hold them off, but soon finds themselves facing the spiderlike Phyrexian general [[Tsabo Tavoc]], who plans to personally deliver them to [[Yawgmoth]]. Just as it seems she has them cornered, [[Karn]] fires upon the prison from the ''Weatherlight'', allowing the crew to escape to the ship with the blind seer in tow. |- |{{card|Fight or Flight||INV}},
{{card|Reckless Assault||INV}},
{{card|Rout||INV}},
{{card|Global Ruin||INV}}||Despite a fierce offensive against the Phyrexian fleet by the ''Weatherlight'', the Phyrexian forces raze Benalia City, killing everyone including the chief of [[Clan Capashen]], Raddeus. After another perilous encounter with Tsabo Tavoc, Gerrard reluctantly agrees to retreat. |- |{{card|Exclude||INV}},
{{card|Disrupt||INV}}||Urza travels to [[Zhalfir]] to enlist its people into the fight, where he finds [[Teferi]] defending his homeland from the Phyrexian assault. Together, they enact a plan by Teferi to disable the portal ships via the temporal and spatial distortions created by planeswalking. |- |{{card|Teferi's Moat||INV}},
{{card|Teferi's Care||INV}},
{{card|Teferi's Response||INV}}|| Having siphoned off the immense amount of energy created during this process, Teferi channels it into a great spell- in moments, he {{card|Teferi's Protection||C17|title=phases the entire subcontinent of Zhalfir out of reality}}, leaving only the empty ocean in its wake. Urza disapproves, but Teferi asserts that Urza saw his people as nothing more than pawns to be sacrificed, and that this was his way of sparing them from that fate. |- |{{card|Winnow||INV}}||At the blind seer's suggestion, the ''Weatherlight'' travels to the [[Benalia#Known locations|Atrivak Mounds]], a Benalish penal colony, to recruit the military prisoners there to their cause. Gerrard pretends to have been sent by Chief Raddeus, but the warden sees through this ruse and the crew is forced to fight their way in to free the prisoners. |- |{{card|Prison Barricade||INV}},
{{card|Liberate||INV}}||Shortly after the ''Weatherlight''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s arrival, the prison is attacked by Tsabo Tavoc's forces. Though hundreds of the prisoners die in the fighting, the crew manages to rescue hundreds more aboard the ship, and once again narrowly escapes Tsabo's clutches. |- |{{card|Fertile Ground||INV}},
{{card|Plague Spores||INV}},
{{card|Spreading Plague||INV}},
{{card|Vile Consumption||INV}}||In [[Yavimaya]], [[Multani]] feels the forest and its life becoming corrupted by the Phyrexian plague that is quickly spreading across all of Dominaria. |- |{{card|Canopy Surge||INV}},
{{card|Saproling Infestation||INV}},
{{card|Aura Mutation||INV}}||The Phyrexians attack Yavimaya, and Multani offers a prayer to [[Gaea]], which is soon answered by the forest itself rising to repel the invaders. Elves, saprolings, treefolk, and all the rest of Yavimaya's creatures band together with Multani to fight. |- |{{card|Kavu Lair||INV}},
{{card|Kavu Climber||INV}},
{{card|Fires of Yavimaya||INV}}||Despite their fierce resistance, the Yavimayan forces soon realize they fight a losing battle. However, just when it seems all hope is lost, new allies in the thousands surge forth from the ground itself. They are the [[Kavu]], a race of primeval lizards that had lain in wait for millennia beneath Yavimaya, called forth by Gaea in their time of need. |- | {{card|Aura Shards||INV}},
{{card|Tangle||INV}}||Multani also revives the oldest [[Yavimaya#Magnigoth|magnigoth]] tree in the forest, the [[Heart of Yavimaya]], whose powerful magic turns many of the Phyrexians into wooden soldiers of Gaea. These events finally turn the tide of the battle, and together the Yavimayans decimate the Phyrexian forces and drive them out of the forest. |- |{{card|Scouting Trek||INV}},
{{card|Llanowar Vanguard||INV}},
{{card|Elfhame Palace||INV}}||After the victory in Yavimaya, Multani travels to [[Llanowar]] to meet [[Eladamri]], who has been spreading knowledge of the Phyrexians alongside [[Lin Sivvi]] and [[Takara en-Dal|Takara]] since their arrival from Rath. Eladamri has come to be revered as a prophet amongst the peoples of Llanowar, who call him the "Seed of [[Freyalise]]". He travels to the royal palace in the elfhame of [[Staprion]], attempting to convince the king to evacuate his people to protect them from the coming invasion, but his pleas fall on deaf ears. |- | {{card|Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer||INV}},
{{card|Sterling Grove||INV}},
{{card|Artifact Mutation||INV}}||On his arrival in Llanowar, Multani communes with the local Maro-Sorcerer [[Molimo]], who grants Multani passage through his forest and eventually aids him in battle. |- |{{card|Restock||INV}}||No sooner has Multani arrived than a multitude of portals open in the sky above Llanowar and begin dropping plague bombs. Eladamri and the others do what they can to lead the elves to safety and mount a counteroffensive. Takara is revealed to have been dying of the Phyrexian plague ever since her rescue from the [[Stronghold (location)|Stronghold]], and sacrifices her life trying to rescue victims of the attack. |- |{{card|Elfhame Sanctuary||INV}},
{{card|Tranquility||INV}}||Eladamri leads the elves into the [[Llanowar#Other locations|Dreaming Caves]], a sacred grotto suffused with green mana beneath the roots of Llanowar, where thoughts and dreams can manifest in reality. He inspires them with songs of hope and visions of a Llanowar free of strife, and the sick and wounded begin to heal. |- | {{card|Bend or Break||INV}},
{{card|Scorching Lava||INV}}||Barrin and Urza travel to [[Shiv]] to secure the [[Thran Empire|Thran]] [[Mana Rig]], which is under attack by Phyrexian forces. Once they get there, however, they find the Rig more than capable of defending itself, blasting the Phyrexians out of the sky with great columns of lava and splitting itself in two when under attack, with one section mobilizing on mechanical legs into a walking fortress. |- |{{card|Ghitu Fire||INV}},
{{card|Temporal Distortion||INV}},
{{card|Darigaaz, the Igniter||INV}},
{{card|Tectonic Instability||INV}}||They meet with [[Jhoira]], Teferi, and the dragon [[Darigaaz]] on the Mana Rig, where Jhoira and Teferi inform them of their intent to protect Shiv from the invasion the same way Teferi did Zhalfir- by phasing it out. Urza is furious about losing yet more resources for his war, but he can do nothing to stop them and is forced to withdraw with Barrin, Darigaaz, and the mobile section of the Rig as the rest of Shiv disappears. |- |{{card|Reviving Vapors||INV}}||Reappearing after an unexplained absence, the blind seer directs the ''Weatherlight'' to Llanowar to assist Eladamri. On board, Hanna has developed a progressively worsening sickness. The crew soon realizes that the wound she received shortly after their arrival in Dominaria has infected her with the plague, for which there is no cure. Nevertheless, [[Orim]] vows to find one and save her. |- |{{card|Distorting Wake||INV}}||Still determined to help, the gravely ill Hanna tries to find a way to stop the bombings. Orim reminds her that the ''Weatherlight''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s planeshifting creates a powerful slipstream, and she has {{card|Captain Sisay||INV|title=Sisay}} planeshift to Rath, pulling the portals along with them and causing the bombs to drop on the Phyrexian armies there. |- |{{card|Protective Sphere||INV}},
{{card|Desperate Research||INV}}|| Finally succumbing to the effects of the plague, Hanna collapses. As the ''Weatherlight'' fights her way through the skies of Rath, Orim realizes that she may be able to create a cure from the blood of the Phyrexians themselves, as they alone are immune to the plague's effects. She uses the ship's anchor to kill a few Phyrexian soldiers and collect their bodies, and the ''Weatherlight'' planeshifts back to Dominaria. |- |{{card|Heroes' Reunion||INV}}||Gerrard and the crew descend into Llanowar, and they meet Eladamri, Multani, and the newly hale elves returning from the Dreaming Caves. Together, they drive the rest of the Phyrexians from Llanowar, liberating the forest at last. |- |{{card|Orim's Touch||INV}}|| Orim has managed to synthesize an immunity serum from the Phyrexians' blood and uses it to protect Llanowar from the effects of the plague. However, it is too late for Hanna, whose condition has worsened considerably. In a last-ditch effort to save her, she is taken to the Dreaming Caves to be healed as the elves were, but she is deep in a coma and thus cannot dream. |- |{{card|Sky Weaver||INV}},
{{card|Wings of Hope||INV}},
{{card|Metathran Aerostat||INV}},
{{card|Metathran Transport||INV}}||Urza's army of Metathran arrives outside the [[Caves of Koilos]], where Tsabo Tavoc now commands the main Phyrexian ground force, and where the ancient gate to Phyrexia stands open. At the head of this army are [[Thaddeus]] and [[Agnate]], two telepathically linked Metathran commanders bred by Urza to be superior in body and mind. |- |{{card|Prohibit||INV}},
{{card|Chaotic Strike||INV}},
{{card|Spinal Embrace||INV}},
{{card|Metathran Zombie||INV}}||The battle at Koilos commences with intense fighting, and heavy casualties are incurred on both sides. However, it soon becomes apparent that the Phyrexians have a secret weapon- mechanical centipedes that burrow into their victims, replacing their spines and transforming them into Phyrexian zombies, turning the Metathran against themselves. |- |{{card|Phyrexian Altar||INV}},
{{card|Lobotomy||INV}},
{{card|Probe||INV}}||While Agnate's forces struggle to hold their ground against the Phyrexians, Thaddeus' forces make swift progress through their lines, advancing into the caves and making for the portal room. Thaddeus realizes too late that he has been drawn into a trap- Tsabo Tavoc allowed him and his soldiers through, and having now isolated him, she easily overpowers him. When he awakens, he finds himself being vivisected as she appraises his physiology in front of an assemblage of Phyrexian vat priests, helpless to resist. |- |{{card|Tsabo's Web||INV}}||The ''Weatherlight'' arrives at Koilos, and after proving his worth to Agnate, Eladamri takes Thaddeus' place as commander. On board the ship, the blind seer's magic briefly awakens the dying Hanna one last time, allowing her to say goodbye to Gerrard before passing away. Gerrard swears vengeance against Tsabo Tavoc, blaming her for Hanna's death. Within the caves, Tsabo senses Gerrard's anger, preparing to draw him into her trap just as she had Thaddeus. |- |{{card|Power Armor||INV}},
{{card|Pledge of Loyalty||INV}},
{{card|Holy Day||INV}}||Urza begins the next phase of his plan, {{card|Urza Assembles the Titans||DMU|title=gathering eight planeswalkers from across Dominaria-}} [[Taysir of Rabiah]], [[Daria]], [[Kristina of the Woods]], [[Freyalise]], [[Bo Levar]], [[Guff|Commodore Guff]], [[Tevesh Szat]], and [[Windgrace|Lord Windgrace]]. Together with himself, Urza christens the group the [[Nine Titans]] and takes them to [[Tolaria]]. There, he has stored suits of mechanical armor, dubbed [[Nine Titans#Titan Engines|Titan Engines]], which he has outfitted with heavy weaponry and built to withstand the harsh atmosphere of Phyrexia. He has them train with the machines inside a [[Rift#Tolarian rift|fast time rift]], preparing them for the battle at Koilos, and from there the final assault on Phyrexia itself. |- |{{card|Barrin's Unmaking||INV}}||At Urza's insistence, Barrin travels to [[Urborg]] to liberate the isle from the Phyrexians. Alongside an army of Coalition allies, Barrin mounts a fierce attack, but in the end, the Phyrexians prove too numerous and he is forced to retreat. |- |{{card|Psychic Battle||INV}},
{{card|Mourning||INV}}||Barrin goes to Koilos to ask Urza for reinforcements, but Urza has none to spare, having committed all his forces to this battle. A disappointed Barrin announces his intention to speak with his daughter on the Weatherlight, but Urza informs him that Hanna died days ago and that Barrin was not informed because Urborg was too important. Aghast, Barrin condemns Urza, realizing that his devotion to the planeswalker and his cause has cost him everything he loved. |- |{{card|Recover||INV}},
{{card|Crown of Flames||INV}},
{{card|Barrin's Spite||INV}},
{{card|Obliterate||INV}}||Barrin exhumes Hanna's body, buried nearby by her crewmates, and transports it to [[Rayne]]'s tomb in Tolaria, which is now overrun by Phyrexian forces. He buries her beside her mother, then in a final act of retribution casts the same spell that Urza used to detonate the [[Golgothian Sylex]] millennia ago, completely obliterating Tolaria, the attacking Phyrexians, and himself. |- |{{card|Do or Die||INV}},
{{card|Savage Offensive||INV}},
{{card|Strength of Unity||INV}},
{{card|Annihilate||INV}},
{{card|Backlash||INV}},
{{card|Breath of Darigaaz||INV}}||The battle at Koilos rages on, with Coalition armies from every nation of Dominaria joining in the fight. Gerrard, Eladamri, and Agnate lead the charge into the caves, carving a path through the Phyrexian legions. Aiding them from the skies are Sisay on the ''Weatherlight'' and Darigaaz's dragons, who assail the enemy with cannon fire and dragonfire alike. |- |{{card|Searing Rays||INV}},
{{card|Urza's Rage||INV}},
{{card|Void||INV}}||Despite this, the Phyrexians' sheer numbers seem certain to overwhelm the Coalition forces, but the tides are turned when the Urza and the Titans arrive in their engines and lay waste to the Phyrexian ranks. The Phyrexians deploy their fearsome Witch Engines in response, but with the ''Weatherlight'''s support, these too are dispatched. |- |{{card|Maniacal Rage||INV}},
{{card|Stun||INV}},
{{card|Chromatic Sphere||INV}}|| Pressing onward into the caves, Gerrard and the crew fight their way through hordes of Phyrexians, making for the portal room to confront Tsabo Tavoc. Agnate finally re-establishes telepathic contact with Thaddeus, but Thaddeus warns him not to seek him out. Ignoring him, Agnate finds Thaddeus flayed open and barely alive, and reluctantly kills him to end his suffering. |- | {{card|Dueling Grounds||INV}}||Deep within the caves, Tsabo springs her trap, separating Gerrard from the rest of the crew. Consumed by hate, he attacks her with reckless abandon, allowing her to easily outmaneuver and capture him. |- |{{card|Soul Burn||INV}}||In the portal room, the rest of the crew battles vainly against an endless stream of soldiers pouring in from Phyrexia. Tsabo approaches the gate with Gerrard firmly in her grasp, bound for Yawgmoth to deliver her prize. Before she can reach it, the crew fights their way through to her, halting her advance long enough for [[Squee]] to deliver a sword to Gerrard. He stabs her, seriously wounding her and forcing her to flee through the portal. |- |{{card|Dismantling Blow||INV}}||The blind seer appears, revealing himself to have been Urza in disguise. He and Gerrard destroy the portal mechanism, finally closing the Phyrexian gate at Koilos forever. He identifies himself as Gerrard's creator and that of the [[The Legacy|Legacy]], to which Gerrard responds that while he'll fight Urza's war, he hates him, for the planeswalker's design has caused him nothing but pain. |- |{{card|Coalition Victory||INV}}||With the Battle of Koilos won and the Phyrexian invasion seemingly halted, the Coalition rejoices, with a great feast being held aboard the ''Weatherlight''. While the others celebrate, Gerrard, Urza, Eladamri, and Agnate stand solemnly apart, mourning the dead and reflecting on the cost of their victory. |}
