==Apocalypse== {| class="wikitable" |- !Cards !!Scene |- |{{card|Soul Link||APC}},<br />{{card|Death Grasp||APC}},<br />{{card|Suppress||APC}}||Deep within the ninth sphere of [[Phyrexia]], [[Yawgmoth]] strips [[Urza]] of his planeswalker powers and pits him and {{card|Gerrard Capashen||APC|title=Gerrard}} against each other in a fight to the death, promising to fulfill the winner's greatest desire. For Urza, this means ultimate knowledge of Phyrexian technology, and for Gerrard, it means the resurrection of [[Hanna]]. Inside a [[flowstone]] arena shaped by Yawgmoth's will, each attempts to outmaneuver the other and both strike mortal blow after mortal blow, only for Yawgmoth to heal their broken bodies and force them to continue. |- |Not depicted in cards |At [[Urborg]], [[Karn]] gathers the crew in the ''[[Skyship Weatherlight|Weatherlight]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s study and explains that he has slowly been regaining ancient memories, and has discovered the secrets of the [[The Legacy|Legacy]] hidden within the [[Thran Tome]]. He reveals to [[Sisay]] that she and [[Crovax]] are rejected products of Urza's [[Bloodline Project]], and that Urza had originally built Karn himself to travel back in time and destroy Yawgmoth before the [[Thran Civil War]], leaving him to find his own purpose when this one went unfulfilled. He claims that Urza had similarly lacked a singular purpose for the rest of the Legacy, which on its face is merely a collection of powerful artifacts, but that if brought together with the right hands, these artifacts have the potential to become something new. To demonstrate this, Karn lays the Thran Tome upon the ''Weatherlight''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s engine amongst the other Legacy artifacts, which causes the ship to manifest a will of her own and transform into her final, ideal form as described within the pages of the tome. |- |{{card|Lay of the Land||APC}},<br />{{card|Dwarven Patrol||APC}},<br />{{card|Quicksilver Dagger||APC}},<br />{{card|Dwarven Landslide||APC}}||Meanwhile, [[Eladamri]], [[Lin Sivvi]], and [[Grizzlegom]] lead the [[The Coalition|Coalition]] forces in an assault on the [[Stronghold (location)|Stronghold]]'s main gate, but they encounter heavy resistance and are forced to regroup. While searching for another way in, they discover that a company of rock dwarves have been blasting a fissure into the side of the volcano. Eladamri forms an alliance with them, helping them break through the volcanic interior and leading a contingent of Coalition warriors into the Stronghold. |- |{{card|Tranquil Path||APC}}||On the sixth sphere of Phyrexia, the remaining [[Nine Titans|Titans]] discover [[Taysir of Rabiah|Taysir]]'s body and realize that Urza has betrayed their cause. They abandon their Titan Engines lest they be killed in the same fashion, using magic to shield themselves from the environment, and decide to split up and detonate the [[Soul Bomb|soul bombs]] manually. |- |{{card|Jungle Barrier||APC}},<br />{{card|Consume Strength||APC}},<br />{{card|Death Mutation||APC}}||Once the ''Weatherlight''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s transformation is complete, [[Multani]] returns home to [[Yavimaya]]. He calls on [[Gaea]] to aid him one last time, drawing on her power and expending all of his life energy to bridge Yavimaya and Urborg from across [[Dominaria (plane)|Dominaria]]. In an instant, the swamps of Urborg are supplanted by the forests of Yavimaya, and with them legions of battle-ready elves, saprolings, treefolk, and [[Kavu]]. |- |{{card|Mind Extraction||APC}},<br />{{card|Fervent Charge||APC}}||Crovax, while tormenting his victims in the Stronghold, sesnes the disturbance and confronts the Yavimayan invaders. However, their combined forces quickly overwhelm him, and he is forced to retreat and gather reinforcements. |- |{{card|Phyrexian Arena||APC}}||Urza and Gerrard continue their interminable duel, driven by an unnatural bloodlust and spurred on by Yawgmoth. Finally, after a brutal struggle, Gerrard gets the better of Urza and beheads the planeswalker in a single strike. |- |{{card|Jilt||APC}}||For his victory, Yawgmoth grants Gerrard a place at his side and bestows him with superhuman strength and knowledge, but Gerrard demands only to see Hanna resurrected as promised. {{card|Yawgmoth's Vile Offering|title=When faced with her}}, however, she speaks with Yawgmoth's words, asking for Urza's head. Realizing that the Hanna before him is merely the dark god's puppet, Gerrard viciously attacks her, causing Yawgmoth to eject him back through the portal and into the Stronghold. |- |{{card|Divine Light||APC}},<br />{{card|Illuminate||APC}},<br />{{card|Diversionary Tactics||APC}},<br />{{card|Prophetic Bolt||APC}}||Working in groups of two, the Titans set their plan into action, with [[Bo Levar]] and [[Windgrace]] buying their allies time by fighting off hordes of Phyrexians around the bomb sites. |- |{{card|Pernicious Deed||APC}},<br />{{card|False Dawn||APC}}||Meanwhile, [[Freyalise]] and [[Guff]] work to detonate the bombs, planeswalking away from the blasts. The massive explosions lay waste to the spheres of Phyrexia, leaving the plane little more than a smoking ruin. |- |{{card|Jaded Response||APC}},<br />{{card|Evasive Action||APC}},<br />{{card|Captain's Maneuver||APC}}||Reborn, the ''Weatherlight'' takes to the skies, decimating the Phyrexian fleets with newfound power and speed. Sensing Gerrard and [[Squee]] within the Stronghold, the ship plunges toward the volcano, deflecting incoming fire with her mirrored hull. |- |{{card|Symbiotic Deployment||APC}},<br />{{card|Smash||APC}},<br />{{card|Guided Passage||APC}}||While Eladamri, Lin Sivvi, and Grizzlegom lead their Coalition allies through the Stronghold from below, Sisay, [[Tahngarth]], and Karn infiltrate from the ''Weatherlight'', returning to the torture pits where they once languished and freeing the prisoners there. Both groups make for the throne room, slaying legions of [[Rathi Tribes|Rathi]] and Phyrexian defenders along the way. Far below, the dwarves carry out a plan to flood the volcano with a sea of magma, which begins to rise toward the Stronghold. |- |{{card|Squee's Revenge||APC}}||Upon his return from Phyrexia, Gerrard encounters [[Ertai]] in the throne room. A fight breaks out, and Squee arrives just in time to save Gerrard from a deadly spell. Ertai summons Crovax to the throne room to deal with Gerrard while he chases Squee through the surrounding halls, killing the goblin repeatedly only for him to come back to life moments later. While preparing another spell, Ertai is tripped by Squee and releases the magic prematurely, badly burning himself. He returns to his rejuvenation chamber to heal, but is killed when Squee accidentally stumbles into a lever and overloads the device. |- |{{card|Gerrard's Verdict||APC}}||Meanwhile, Gerrard and Crovax face off in the throne room. Crovax reanimates the corpses strewn about the room, letting the zombies weaken Gerrard before closing in and nearly choking him to death. However, with the last of his strength Gerrard ensnares Crovax in flowstone, allowing him to recover and gain the advantage. After a series of decisive blows, Gerrard cleaves the evincar in half, ending his reign for good. |- |{{card|Last Caress||APC}}||Upon Crovax's death, Gerrard sees the {{card|Desolation Angel||APC|title=angelic form}} of [[Selenia]] descend to his body. A ghostly image of Crovax appears, uncorrupted by vampirism or Phyrexian technology, and together the two forms rise into the air and disappear. |- |{{card|Squee's Embrace||APC}}||Despite this victory, Gerrard and Squee soon find themselves surrounded by Stronghold soldiers. Just when it seems they are cornered, Urza's disembodied head springs to life, beaming magic from its eyes and burning the soldiers to ash. He explains to Gerrard that as a planeswalker he does not need a body, and so long as he retains his brain and powerstone eyes, he will live on. Sisay and Eladamri's groups soon arrive at the throne room, and after a brief reunion they fight their way back to the ''Weatherlight''. |- |{{card|Planar Despair||APC}},<br />{{card|Goblin Trenches||APC}}||Yawgmoth begins the final phase of his invasion, entering Dominaria himself through the Stronghold portal. He takes the form of a {{card|Toxic Deluge||CC2|title=great black cloud}} that kills any life it touches, resurrecting it to fight for Phyrexia. The ''Weatherlight'' crew attempts to stop him, first by trying to seal him inside the volcano and then by engaging him directly, but both prove ineffectual. At Yawgmoth's command, all of Dominaria's dead and even its very soil rise to slay the living, causing widespread devastation across the plane. |- |{{card|Index||APC}},<br />{{card|Wild Research||APC}}||Upon returning from Phyrexia and witnessing the dire state of Dominaria, Guff informs the rest of the Titans that Yawgmoth is destined to conquer the plane. He knows this because it is written in the volumes in his library, which contain not only the events that have happened on Dominaria, but those that are yet to happen as well. When reminded that the loss of Dominaria will also mean the loss of his life's work, Guff decides to alter the future by erasing the passages chronicling the outcome of the invasion, barely finishing this task before being engulfed and killed by Yawgmoth. |- |{{card|Gaea's Balance||APC}}||Meanwhile, Freyalise goes to aid the forests, restoring vitality to Dominaria's treefolk and plant life which consume the nutrients of the attacking mud golems and undead. |- |{{card|Last Stand||APC}}||All of Dominaria fights for survival. At Urborg, the Coalition forces rally against the sea of Phyrexians and undead, only to be consumed entirely by the killing cloud of Yawgmoth. Windgrace planeswalks Grizzlegom and his forces to the relative safety of [[Hurloon]], only for the group to find themselves in Yawgmoth's shadow once more. Eladamri and Lin Sivvi watch the black cloud descend upon them from the boughs of a treefolk, and decide to die on their own terms as a final defiant act. They embrace, then fall to their deaths together in the fires below. Bo Levar returns to the sea, traveling to a commune of [[Vodalia|Vodalian]] refugees and sacrificing his life to protect the merfolk from Yawgmoth. Slowly, the dark god's form spreads to encompass the whole of the plane. |- |{{card|Legacy Weapon||APC}}||Aboard the ''Weatherlight'', the crew desperately searches for a way to stop Yawgmoth before Dominaria is lost. Urza asserts that the Legacy contains the energy of entire worlds, including that of [[Serra's Realm]] which resides within the ''Weatherlight''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s central powerstone, and that the release of this energy would undoubtedly be catastrophic enough to destroy Yawgmoth. However, Sisay points out that this would essentially be another [[Sylex Blast]], an event that would kill millions and cause untold destruction, and entreats Gerrard to find another way. Karn then comes forward with a suggestion- he has learned from the Thran Tome that one of Dominaria's moons, the [[Null Moon]], is actually an ancient [[Thran Empire|Thran]] artifact that has been gathering white mana for millennia- enough, he believes, to kill Yawgmoth if it were released. The others agree with this plan, and Sisay planeshifts the ''Weatherlight'' out of Dominaria's atmosphere and into the moon, piercing it with the ship's prow and releasing a torrent of white mana. Diving back toward the surface of the plane, the ''Weatherlight'' focuses the mana through her engine and blasts Yawgmoth with it, disintegrating great swaths of the black cloud. Wounded, Yawgmoth attempts to flee through the portal from whence he came, only to find that the Stronghold has been engulfed by the rising lava. He fights back against the ''Weatherlight'' in a rage, grasping the ship with great black tentacles that rise from the darkness. While the crew tries to fend off his attacks, the cascade of mana overloads the ship's engine, disabling the beam. All hope seems lost, until Urza proposes one final possibility- He asserts that the [[Mightstone]] and [[Weakstone]], which are imbued with the will of [[Glacian]] and once protected Dominaria from Yawgmoth by sealing the portal at [[Caves of Koilos|Koilos]], hold the power to destroy him. If Gerrard, as heir to the Legacy, were to remove these stones from his head and reunite them, Urza believes that this would act as the final catalyst for the Legacy and {{card|Legacy Weapon||10E|title=fully unleash its power}}. Despite his doubts about this plan, Gerrard recognizes it as their last hope and agrees, saying his goodbyes to the crew. Once the ''Weatherlight'' is in position, Gerrard gouges the Mightstone and Weakstone out of Urza's eye sockets, finally killing the ancient planeswalker. As Yawgmoth's tentacles crush the ship, Gerrard forces the stones together within the Legacy trove in Karn's chest. |- |{{card|Vindicate||APC}}||Once the stones are united, light erupts from Karn, the Legacy, and the ''Weatherlight''. An immense power envelops Gerrard, and in his final moments he hears Hanna call out to him. He takes her hand and walks away, and then he is gone. Karn, however, is transformed- he hears the voices of the Legacy and the ''Weatherlight'', of Urza and [[Xantcha]], of all that have become a part of him, and leaves Dominaria. {{card|Legacy Weapon||DMR|title=The light explodes from the ship}}, burning through Yawgmoth in seconds and eradicating every trace of his darkness, ridding Dominaria of the dark god once and for all. Across the plane, the dead return to their rest and the Phyrexian soldiers grow listless, unable to function upon the death of their creator. The invasion is over, and the long war against Phyrexia is won. The ''Weatherlight'' crashes into the sea, sinking into the depths while her crew swims ashore. |- |{{card|Martyrs' Tomb||APC}}||One year later, the heroes of Dominaria- the remaining ''Weatherlight'' crew, Freyalise and Windgrace, Grizzlegom, and the myriad soldiers of the Coalition- come together to dedicate a monument to the dead on the grounds of {{card|Overgrown Estate||APC|title=Crovax's estate}}. Freyalise speaks to the sacrifice of the fallen, and the burden of the living to honor that sacrifice and look after their world. After the ceremony, Karn appears before the crew as a planeswalker, revealing that he has been traveling across the multiverse since his transformation. He takes [[Orim]] back to [[Mercadia]] to be with [[Cho-Manno]], while Tahngarth and Squee join Sisay on her new ship, a galley which she names ''Victory''. |}
