Template:Infobox type Butterfly is an obsolete creature subtype which originally only appeared on tokens.
History[edit]
Butterfly debut as a creature type in Visions for the token created by <c set="VIS" number="" title="Giant Caterpillar" artist="">Giant Caterpillar</c>. During development of the Mirage block releases on Magic Online, R&D took the position that reprinting cards digitally allowed them to update the creature types of those cards to better support typal strategies. This resulted in an errata update to <c set="J22" number="" title="Giant Caterpillar" artist="">Giant Caterpillar</c> so it created an Insect token named "Butterfly" instead.[1]
